Rosewood provides consulting services. So do many other businesses. And each of them represents their offering as unique. So do we. In this post we dissect what exactly is different about our offering.
Our core service is technical due diligence assessments. We have decades of experience in this field, and have been on both sides of the table - representing buyers and sellers. Our consultants' careers are rooted in software development and software architecture. We have extensive experience of managing technology teams and assets. This expertise is precisely what enables Rosewood to differentiate itself from other consulting services.
We see ourselves as a technology company, more than a consulting business. Technology is what we do.
The focus of our offering is technology. It is at the heart of our business. When we evaluate investment risk, we do so from a technology perspective. When we comment on the feasibility of a product road map, we do so from a technology perspective. We engage primarily with the "techies" in the business - at all levels from the CTO/CIO to architects, developers, team leads, design and quality assurance professionals.
We have seen technical due diligence assessments that use a variety of different lenses to approach the project. These include a focus on product, people, market share, regulatory and legal considerations and even design - all of which are valid perspectives, but it is our belief that they should be a secondary concern - for a technical due diligence. The primary concern is to answer a basic question: what is the value of the technology in this business ? Let's unpack that statement.
Value comes in many guises. For a tech-driven company technology is the intellectual property it owns. For an e-commerce company, the technology is the enabler of the business. For many businesses, the resilience and availability of the underlying technology platform determines how the business is perceived. For the product team the capabilities or features of the platform determines what product features can be implemented and how much it will cost to do so. For the investor the risks of operating the platform determines the value of the investment.
Because we are a technology company, we have the ability to engage deeply with the underlying infrastructure and software. Once we have done that, we apply other lenses - product, investment risk, compliance and all the rest. As a technology company, we can give an informed opinion on how technology adds value to the businesses we are assessing.
Rosewood Due Diligence has conducted more than 150 technical due diligences across multiple sectors and in countries spanning the globe. For a personal conversation or to schedule a call contact partners@rosewoodd.com
